About Indie
Indie is a sweet and affectionate 13-year-old black tortoiseshell (calico) whose elderly owner could no longer care for her, leading to her stay at the pound for a month.
Initially timid and nervous around unfamiliar sounds and the opening of doors, she responds remarkably well to affection. Indie delights in pats and scratches, purring loudly, and will even roll over for a belly rub. However, true to tortie temperament, she will let you know when she’s had enough.
In her new home, Indie will initially need a safe space to retreat to, whether it be a cupboard, cubby or box in a safe room, until she learns to trust her surroundings. However, affection is key to earning her trust and helping her relax. She is now actively seeking out laps to sit in, making biscuits, and accepting cuddles and loves to sleep on the bed with you. Her new family will need to be very patient and let her relax in her own time. Once she’s feeling more comfortable, she is quite the chatter box.
Although approaching 14 years, Indie is still reasonably active and, at times, a little feisty. Initially she didn’t seem to know what to do with toys, but is learning to bop moving fingers and ping pong balls, so it’s just a matter of time. She’s also started having brief zoomies around the house.
Indie is not primarily motivated by food, yet she has a healthy appetite and is generally not very fussy. She would thrive in a calm home without young children or dogs and preferably with someone home a lot as she does like to be with her people. Does not like other cats at all!
Medical: Indie recently had four teeth removed and a full scale and clean. Her bloods, urine and hips were all checked with no apparent issues.
