About Ruma
I am a loving and gentle soul, but life dealt me a few obstacles at the beginning of my life. Unfortunately, this has meant that I am a bit shy around unfamiliar men and children, but with patience and time, I’ll warm up, especially if you have a dog for me to play with and for me to see that you are lovely people and won’t hurt me.
I am now on the lookout for my forever home, I am crate-trained and sleep quietly at night, but I can easily adapt to sleeping anywhere, hopefully next to your bed if you’ll let me! I’m gentle and loving once I feel safe and trusted.
My foster mum has taught me to walk very nicely next to her on lead and also how to be calm when crossing roads. I don’t chase other critters or cars like some dogs do as I would prefer to be close to you so I feel safe.
Due to my start in life I need to learn to trust you and your family first, so I will need a few days to settle in without you putting too much pressure on me. Once I trust you, I’ll be the most loyal and snuggly companion. If you can offer me love, patience, and a safe space, I’ll be your loyal snuggle bug forever.

* Please note, this is not a contract or agreement of any kind, only expression of interest in our dog. We will not conduct any meet and greets unless this form has been filled out and submitted for review. Only approved applicants will get to meet our dogs. *
Once approved you will be contacted by a team member and can organise a time best suited to meet with the carer and dog. If you have other dogs they must also be at the meeting, including any children in the immediate family.
Before applying please consider the following:
• real estate approval if renting
• any fencing repairs that may need to be done
• outside shelter
• breed knowledge
• do you have enough time for the breed of dog you are applying for?
If you and the dog get along, you have to option of taking the dog on the spot (at this time you will need to pay the full adoption price and sign the adoption agreement) You will then get a 2-week trial with the dog, during this time should things not work out you are to return the dog to Dusty Paws Dog Rescue. You will then receive a full refund; less $50 admin fee within 7 business days of the return of the dog.

Please also keep in mind that we are a volunteer run rescue which means we don’t have someone manning the phone 24/7, we all work full time jobs and get back to your calls and messages as soon as we can. We thank you for your time and patients with us.
