About Choko
Choko is a 13-month-old Kelpie who's full of life, energy, and love to give! Recently surrendered to BARC, this spirited young boy has already shown himself to be one of the most well-adjusted Kelpies we've had the pleasure of meeting. Despite spending most of his life in a backyard, Choko has adapted beautifully to life in the shelter, and it's clear he's ready to find his forever home.
Choko is the perfect mix of playful and loving. His first-ever bush walk was a huge success, and he made fast friends with all the other Kelpies here. He's outgoing, confident, and loves making new pals, whether they're furry or human.
This guy is looking for an inclusive home where he can be part of the family-whether that's hiking through nature, playing in the yard, or cuddling up for a Netflix binge (and he'll even keep an eye out for any potential zombie threats!). Choko would be especially great for a family with kids 10 years or older who are ready to welcome a furry brother into the fold.
If you're ready for a fun-loving, loyal companion who will join you in every adventure, then Choko is your dog! He can't wait to meet you and start his new chapter in a loving home.
To book a meet and greet with this gorgeous boy Choko please phone 5441-2209 or email barcreception@bendigo.vic.gov.au . Due to the high volume of emails received, Inquiries with a request for a specific appointment with phone details included will receive a response as priority over generic applications which state they are interested in meeting an animal.

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
