About Brooklyn
‼️PLEASE KINDLY THOROUGHLY READ THROUGH BROOKLYN’S DESCRIPTION AND ANSWER OUR PRE-ADOPTION QUESTIONS BELOW‼️
Brooklyn is a sweet, quiet, happy little girl with the softest soul and a story that has left her deeply sensitive but full of hope. She came from a NSW breeding farm and has very unfortunately, been through more homes than any dog should. These early experiences have left her absolutely and completely petrified of men, and extremely timid and anxious. She is not aggressive and does not have a mean bone in her body - she is just deeply fearful. Her trauma runs deeps and she startles easily at movement, sound, and new people. But despite everything, Brooklyn has remained gentle, affectionate, loving, and eager to connect with those she trusts.
With time, patience, and a calm, gentle female caregiver, Brooklyn blossoms. She has the sweetest morning ritual where she comes into the bathroom quietly for cuddles and rests her paws on you, asking for pats, cuddles, kisses, whatever you would like to bestow on her darling face. Whenever her female caregiver comes home, Brooklyn zooms around excitedly, her tail spinning like a helicopter. She dances when it is walk time and will then sits patiently to be harnessed, sneaking a kiss in here and there. Every morning, she wakes her female caregiver with a gentle nose bop and many kisses. Her joy is soft - not loud or boisterous - but it is there, in every tail spin, every soft look, every tiny step forward.
Brooklyn is looking for a very specific, very special forever home where she can finally feel safe enough to truly thrive:
Female-only household
Another dog who is emotionally stable, close to her age, confident but gentle, playful but not rough, to be her guide, security and comfort
A quiet, calm home with structure and routine
No young children or loud environments
A secure backyard
Someone who will commit to two gentle walks per day - she finds comfort in routine and finds joy in sniffing the world at her own pace
Someone home more often than not, or able to offer her constant love, support, reassurance, and consistency
Someone who will let her go at her own pace, without pressure
Ideally, someone with experience caring for animals with deep trauma, anxiety, or fear-based behaviours, or someone willing to commit to working with an animal behaviourist to support her healing journey
Please note, Brooklyn currently lives with a female owner, a male owner, and a senior dog. She is deeply fearful of the man in the home despite his calm and respectful efforts and avoids him completely, even choosing to stay out in the cold and rain to avoid being near him. While her current family loves her dearly, they recognise she needs a more suitable environment to truly bloom and flourish.
If you have a calm quiet home, a kind heart, and a steady little dog who would love a companion, Brooklyn may be your soul match. Help us give her the forever she has been so patiently waiting for and deserves so very much.
