About Snow
Meet Snow – A Truly Special Soul
Snow is a Mini American Shepherd and is not your average dog, she likely never will be, but that’s what makes her so unique and so deserving of the right person who can offer her the love, patience, and understanding she needs. Snow is a sweet, gentle girl who is still learning to trust the world around her. She’s come so far in her foster home, and with a little more time and care, she’ll continue to blossom into the loving companion she’s meant to be.
Ideal Home:
Snow would be happiest in a calm, quiet home with a peaceful atmosphere. She loves having a little yard to stretch her legs and would adore a space where she can retreat to a quiet corner whenever she needs some time to herself. Snow is perfectly content being left at home for long periods of time as long as she has access to the yard for her toileting needs and some space to relax. While a doggy sibling would be wonderful to offer her reassurance, it’s not essential—she’s just as happy enjoying her time alone with you.
Energy Level:
Snow’s energy is on the calm side—she enjoys quietly resting and lounging around during the day. She has a new interest in playing and, with a little encouragement, is learning how fun it can be! But overall, she’s a more laid-back soul, happy to sit by your side or rest on her favorite rug as she takes in the world at her own pace.
Confidence & Socialisation:
Snow has made amazing progress in building confidence. She’s still a little unsure of new sounds and unexpected noises, but she’s learning every day to feel safe and secure. She’s gotten used to things like traffic, motorbikes, and even kids playing basketball in the street. However, if you think she’s ready to take a stroll through the dog park or enjoy a coffee at the local café, think again—Snow prefers the comfort of quiet, familiar spaces. While she’s not the type to socialize in bustling, noisy public places, she does just fine in calm, low-stress environments.
Suitability to Other Animals:
Snow is a quiet observer and enjoys the company of other cats and small dogs. A calm, friendly doggy sibling would be a lovely companion for her, helping her feel more secure and showing her that the world isn’t so scary. Snow finds comfort in the company of others but also enjoys her solitude when she needs it.
Thunderstorm Anxiety:
Like many dogs, Snow struggles with thunderstorms and needs to feel safe and tucked away indoors with a loving human nearby. She’ll be happiest when she’s close to you during these moments of stress, as your presence helps her feel secure.
Growth & Progress:
Snow has made incredible strides in her foster home. She’s learned to see her crate as a safe haven where she can retreat when she feels overwhelmed, though she’s recently started to prefer sleeping closer to her foster mum in the bedroom. Snow has also started to enjoy regular grooming sessions and is getting used to being brushed, a small but meaningful step in her journey.
The Little Things:
Snow’s quiet sweetness shines in the little moments. She loves sitting next to her foster mum in the evenings, gently being stroked, or simply resting on her favourite rug, soaking in all the warmth and love. She’s also recently started wagging her tail with excitement when her foster mum comes home, especially when it’s time for a treat! Snow even visited a farm recently, where she found peace in the open space and enjoyed leisurely walks with her human. It’s in these moments that Snow truly comes alive, her trust and confidence growing with each new experience.
Snow may not be the typical dog, and she’s not one for the hustle and bustle of dog parks or cafés, but for the right person, she will be a deeply rewarding companion. If you’re looking for a dog who will quietly fill your life with love, and you’re ready to give her the time and space she needs to grow, Snow could be the perfect match for you.
