About Portia
Meet Portia - the adventurous, hardworking, and loving Kelpie who's ready to be your new best friend! Whether it's hiking through the bush, running alongside a mountain bike, swimming, or rolling around in the mud, Portia's outdoor spirit knows no bounds. She's not just an adventurer, though - this smart girl has the strong work ethic and energy that Kelpies are known for, making her ideal for active families or even those with outdoor jobs or hobbies that need a reliable, energetic companion. She thrives on having a job to do and loves challenges that keep her mind and body engaged.
But after all that excitement, this sweet girl is equally content to kick back at home, relaxing on the couch with her family. Portia is fantastic with kids aged 6 and older, and she enjoys being part of the family's daily routine, whether it's playing, snuggling, or helping out. She also gets along well with other dogs, making her the perfect companion for a busy household.
Portia is intelligent, loyal, and always eager to please. With her strong instincts, ability to learn quickly, and unwavering loyalty, she'll bond deeply with her forever family. She's looking for a family who's ready to shower her with affection and keep her busy, whether it's with a job to do, outdoor adventures, or just being the center of attention at home. If you're looking for a hardworking, fun-loving, and super sweet Kelpie, Portia is your girl.
She can't wait to find her forever home where she'll be adored, whether adventuring outside or cuddling on the couch.
Are you ready for endless love, hard work, and adventures with Portia? 💖🐾

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
