About Squishmallow
Requirements:
Must meet all family members
Kids (any age)
Inside only
Meet Squishmallow,
If you’ve ever looked at a cat and thought, "I wish that cat was just a little more... marshmallowy," then Squishmallow is the cat for you! This big, gentle boy is the perfect choice for first-time feline owners — he is low maintenance, high snuggle factor, and guaranteed to take his napping schedule very seriously.
Squishmallow is a confident and social boy who enjoys human company, whether that’s engaging in a deep and meaningful conversation (he’s fluent in cat chirps) or simply rolling onto his back in the middle of the room like a speed bump that you just can't not admire. He thrives in any home environment, from peaceful retreats to bustling households — though, don’t expect him to contribute much to the action beyond his signature flop ‘n’ snooze routine. He’s friendly, happy, and always up for a cuddle - if you can catch him between naps, of course. Squishmallow is ready to lounge his way into your heart!
Kids of all ages are welcome to come and meet this lovable loaf as he is open to meet kids of all ages - he's fine to be picked up, carried & cuddled - he'll honestly just flop in your arms when you pick him up or hold him. He loves being patted everywhere too, he likes his head being stroked & his chin & ears being scratched.
In this environment it's hard for us to test if Squishmallow will get along with dogs - this would be up to the discretion of his new owners. As for other cats, he's seen & met other cats in the cattery - so with a slow & gradual introduction we feel confident that he would be able to make cat friends inside his new home.
We always encourage cats to be indoor cats and Squishmallow is no different. While he probably spent most of his life living rough on the streets he's taken to inside living like a champ. He loves the creature comforts of his condo. Plus, if he is outside, it will increase his chances of running away, getting lost, injured, or worse. As an inside only cat he can be safe & sound & live his best life.
When he first came in to our care he hid for the first few days, but he was very curious to meet you. His confidence has grown the more he spends time with us. Squishmallow has low energy levels and we rarely see him play, although he shows some interest in playing with a feather wand toy. What he truly loves is a scratching post, but being large and in charge, he'll need a bigger scratching post/tower.
Squishmallow is not fussy with his food either - he loves food! He really likes meal time, you'll often see him at the window in his condo, rolling around in anticipation for breakfast & dinner. He also likes treats!
He also always uses his litter tray without any issues, too - again, being a larger cat he would need a larger tray - something with high walls or enclosed would be a great option for him!
Staff Comments: Squishmallow is a friendly and happy boy who rolls around for your love. When you pick him up he completely relaxes in your arms and purrs his little heart out. He's such a loving & sweet boy.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
