About Whiskey
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Whiskey (9.5kg)
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender
BREED: Terrier x
BREED TRAITS: Terriers come in all shapes and sizes and were bred for different reasons but many were for farm work or ratting. Today they are mainly companions. Terriers are generally high energy, very bright and quick to learn but can be stubborn. They have strong personalities and a sense of fun and want to be included in everything you do. Don't take on a terrier unless you really do want a companion
*************************************************************************
ASSETS: Affectionate, devoted, eager to please, obedient, confident, sensitive, active and playful and very sweet! He’s an absolute darling! He is timid around men initially and will nip if they try to touch him too soon – allowing Whiskey space to settle and trust is the key - he settles well once he knows they mean him no harm.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Whiskey loves to play chasey with the other dogs in his foster home He’s also very affectionate and loves nothing more than to curl up with his people for a cuddle and snooze. He travels well in the car and enjoys getting out and about.
ENDEARING FEATURES: He has an awesome personality and is a loyal companion.
OTHER ANIMALS: Whiskey gets on well with other small dogs after gentle introduction and could live with another friendly dog in his new home. He won’t be suited to a house with cats or small animals as he will chase.
GENERAL INFO: Whiskey will need some training on his lead as he tugs at the moment. He is housetrained and will bark when someone is at the door but settles down once he’s had a gentle introduction to the new person. Whiskey finds small children overwhelming and may growl and want to keep his distance, he will therefore not be homed with small children. He hasn’t been destructive in his foster home and has a medium energy level. He knows a couple of commands but will need some training in this area. Whiskey is crate trained and treats it as his safe space and should continue with his crate for easy transition to his new home.
ESSENTIALS for Whiskey:
** A loving home with someone who can be with him for a good part of the day or can take him with them when they go out
.
** He will need daily exercise, playtime and lots of company. A home that is willing to involve him in daily activities is essential for him as he loves to be right where you are.
** Whiskey needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.
** Whiskey needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there and to sleep inside at night.
Whiskey could live with dog-savvy, gentle children over 12 years of age who will be calm around him and engage with him kindly. He would enjoy living with another small dog or at the very least would like to have regular interaction with other friendly dogs.
If Whiskey sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
