Meet Rexy,
Rexy is a certified sweetheart with a heart full of love and a personality that shines! Whether you’re a first-time pet owner or a seasoned dog lover, she’s the perfect match. Adaptable and easygoing, Rexy will fit right into any home - whether it's a bustling, lively household or a peaceful, quiet retreat.
If you’re an active person or family, Rexy will happily join you on walks and adventures. She adores human companionship and gets along wonderfully with other dogs, making her a fantastic addition to any family. With her gentle and friendly nature, she’s sure to bring love and warmth wherever she goes.
Curious, playful, and social, Rexy is always up for a bit of fun, but she also knows how to kick back and relax. She takes life as it comes, embracing every moment with a happy and laid-back attitude. If you're looking for an affectionate, intelligent, and loving dog who will fill your days with endless possibilities, Rexy is the one for you!
Ideal Home: Rexy is best suited to live in a townhouse, standalone home or on a farm/acreage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.
Rexy would love occasional access indoors to spend time with her new family and feel cherished.
Family: Rexy is open to meet kids of any age & she is fine to live with people who work full-time hours - she is known to entertain herself or snooze the day away when left alone.
Furry Friends: Rexy is open to meet dogs. During her dog assessment, Rexy was initially very excited to meet the other dog. She had a loose body & eager to meet. Play bows were exchanged, as well as some zoomies. Although she was excited you are able to get her attention & get her to focus on you as well. She's a perfect pooch! She was easy-going through her assessment however she can match the other dogs behaviour - so if the other dog is uneasy, she will also feel uneasy.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Rexy would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Rexy would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes with other dogs would be good too so that her dog social skills don't get rusty.
With additional training Rexy could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café or social event.
Rexy knows her name & she also knows commands such as: sit & drop & she is eager to learn more (but can be a little lazy). She is food motivated, but can be fussy on the type of treats, but she often takes treats gently from you, so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Rexy has low to mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-30mins every other day to keep her healthy & happy. Rexy is playful but she prefers playing with other dogs or people over playing with her toys.
Rexy walks well on lead, with very minimal pulling. She can be walked on any walking apparatus.
Staff Comments: Rexy is a very calm & affectionate dog. She has been a star since coming into us, leading by example how to interact with people & other dogs. She's a great dog to walk on lead & although she may need some convincing to get up off her bed, she's a sweet dog who loves to love.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
