About Freya
Say hello to Freya, a sweet-natured, placid and very gentle Kelpie mix puppy from the F Litter.
Born on October 1, 2024, this delightful young lady is already showing her unique blend of charm and intelligence. On 1 April, she weighed 8 kgs and we expect her to grow to around 10 kgs, no more.
According to the people who owned Freya's Kelpie mum, the father of the litter is a terrier, but we can't see it. Freya looks more like a Kelpie x Dachshund. She has a petite frame, tiny paws and a long muzzle, but does it reallly matter?
Her foster mum has this to say:
"Freya is the sweetest pup in the litter. Gentle and intelligent, she's very aware of her surroundings and assesses a situation before reacting. She’s highly trainable and very eager to please.
"She was the first to use the cat flap to get into the house - much to the cat's disgust - and she also managed to find the one vulnerable spot in the fence.
"There's nothing not to love about her. She's great with the children, respectful of the cat and she leaves the chooks alone. She’s also great in the car.
"She sleeps all night long in her crate and is house-trained. To my surprise, she’s not the least bit destructive. Such a well-mannered, sweet-natured and affectionate girl - and interestingly, she's not nearly as energetic as a typical Kelpie pup. She's quite content to lie around for a good part of the day."
Freya has gained a lot of confidence since coming into care and is now ready for her forever home.
If you're eager to make this charming girl a part of your life, please complete the online application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/
She is not suited to a solitary life in the backyard and will thrive in an active home where she’s regarded as an integral part of the family.
Preference will be given to homes where someone is around most of the time and/or there is another compatible dog for Freya to play with.
As always, secure fencing is essential.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
Freya was desexed on 1 April 2025.
