About Journey
Journey is a lovable, goofy pup who has come so far since the day he arrived into care. He’s looking for a family with a strong, confident leader who can continue to guide him and shower him with love and snuggles.
Despite his bouncy nature ando over-the-top excitement, Journey is a sweet boy at heart. He thrives on being close to his humans especially during cuddle time. But don't worry—he respects your personal space when it’s time to sleep and won’t wake you up in the night!
Journey has come a long way and would take a little while to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, he will be your best friend. He’s a fast learner, always eager to tackle new challenges, and has already mastered a few basic tricks. Journey loves to run and play, especially during his "staffy zoomies" when he’s bursting with energy. For this reason, he will need a home with outdoor space where he can burn off some of that playful energy.
Good with Dogs: Yes, especially calm and tolerant dogs. Journey is still unsure when he sees other dogs and needs to build more confidence around them, although he is getting better. He’s learning how to interact in a positive way and would thrive in a home with a dog who can help guide him, especially one who is patient and calm.
Good with Kids: Has shown interest and is gentle around them
Good with Cats/Other Small Animals: Untested but does love to chase, although he has learned to be gentle with Dante, the resident turtle
Energy Level: High (loves zoomies and playtime)
Training Level: Well-behaved and polite at home, still learning outdoor excitement control
His Personality
Affectionate – Journey is a cuddle expert and thrives on being near his people. He loves to snuggle up close, so if you’re looking for a dog who is ready to give and receive love, Journey is your boy.
Playful – He’s got a zest for life and loves to play with other dogs who can teach him boundaries. He’s still learning doggy manners, so calm and tolerant dogs would be the best match for him. He’s an active player who has been known to get a bit loud—he’s a “talker,” especially during playtime!
Goofy – Journey doesn’t quite know how big he is, but he’s got a great sense of humor and a big heart. He’s strong and can be clumsy at times, but that’s part of his charm.
Water-Lover – Journey absolutely loves water play! Whether it’s chasing the hose outside, splashing in a small pool, or diving into a big one, he’s always up for some aquatic fun. He recently learned to swim in a pool and had such a blast that he didn’t want to come out! If you’re looking for a water-loving adventure buddy, Journey is your guy.
Learning about New Places – Journey is still getting used to new environments. Many things seem new to him, and some can appear scary. With patience and encouragement, he is gaining confidence and will continue to explore the world around him. His ideal family will be patient as he learns to navigate unfamiliar sights, sounds, and situations.
Adventurer – Journey loves car rides and is always up for an adventure. He recently visited Bunnings and had a blast sniffing everything and soaking in the sights. If you love exploring new places with your dog, Journey will make the perfect companion!
Amazing Around Food – Journey is amazing when it comes to food, whether it be around other dogs or at home during meal times. He is incredibly respectful and calm, never food-obsessed or pushy.
Diet – Journey is on a premium food diet consisting of raw meat mix and premium dry food, with supplements, bones, and treats like frozen yoghurt and homemade ice cream.
Needs & Special Considerations
Strong Leadership & Continued Training – Journey is still a puppy at heart, and he’ll need a family who can provide the structure, guidance, and patience he needs to continue growing into the well-behaved boy he is becoming.
Fireworks & Storms – Journey gets nervous during storms and fireworks but can be calmed with a Thundershirt and anxiety ear muffs.
No Small Animals – Journey has a strong prey drive and is not suited for a home with cats or small animals that move quickly.
Active Home – This boy is full of energy and would thrive in a household where he can get plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation. Journey also loves car rides and exploring new places, so if you’re an adventurous family, he’ll fit right in.
The Perfect Home for Journey
Journey needs a family who will take the time to continue teaching him boundaries, provide mental stimulation, and offer him plenty of space to run and play. His ideal home would be one that’s active but calm, where he’s part of the family, and where he can continue to develop and grow in a loving, patient environment. Journey loves car rides and is always up for an adventure. He recently visited Bunnings and had a blast sniffing everything and soaking in the sights. If you love exploring new places with your dog, Journey will make the perfect companion!
