Cheerio is a sweet dog who has likely missed out on important early socialization, so his new owner will need to be patient and understanding. He may startle easily and will need time to feel comfortable and come out of his shell. Cheerio has never been on a lead before, so his new family will need to slowly introduce him to it through counter conditioning, using treats and calm reassurance. It's important to note that Cheerio would do best in a home with older teens, as sudden or fast movements can be overwhelming for him. He may also benefit from going home with another small breed dog to help build his confidence and provide a sense of security. With time and care, Cheerio will flourish in a safe and patient home.
