About Fern
Fiddle is a sweet, timid female kitten who requires a patient and understanding adopter who can help her adjust to her new home at her own pace. To set her up for success, she must be started in a small area, with access to safe spaces and no escape routes or hard-to-reach spots. Fiddle can easily become overwhelmed in large open spaces, so it's important to give her time to settle in before allowing her to explore the rest of the house. Providing scratch posts, cat trees, hides (like cardboard boxes and cat igloos), and access to shelves or dressers will give her both high and low safe spaces around the house. Fiddle would do well in a home with older children or teens who can understand basic cat body language and know when to give her space. She's cat-social and would benefit from the company of another social kitty to help build her confidence. With monitoring, she may do okay in a home with a calm, social dog.
Fiddle came into the shelter with her siblings, all quite fearful, and spent a long time in treatment for ringworm, which affected her socialization. While she is still a bit hand-shy with sudden movements, with patience, she loves a gentle cheek scratch and is making progress every day. She enjoys roast chicken, wand toys, and fun enrichment activities. Though she may take some time to fully show her true self, with the right adopter, Fiddle will continue to blossom more and more each day.
