Squire has come into care through no fault of his own, and is looking for a family who will love him as much as he will love you back. He has been largely a backyard dog but is absolutely relishing how his new life in our care is opening up new experiences and opportunities to shine
Squire is sweet, friendly and eager to please. He sits on demand and is quickly learning to 'wait' for an invite to come inside. He is friendly with big and small dogs and was reported by his previous owner to be neutral to cats, horses and sheep, although we are unable to confirm this. Although a Kelpie, Squire hasn't been a working dog and thrives in a loving family environment as your best buddy. This sweet boy is a total smooch who loves attention and cuddles in every form and from anyone.
While Squire has mostly been an outside dog, he has has adapted (and much prefers) being inside with his family and is totally toilet trained - he remains baffled by the doggy door however so may need his humans to let him out regularly for toileting. He is also learning to walk on tiles and prefers carpets or rugs, however is gaining confidence. Squire loooves the couch, cuddles and any kind of attention. If you stop, he will nudge you to continue 😊 He is happy to be outside while you're not at home.
Squire is relatively new to being on the leash and going out for walks, but is learning quickly when encouraged with his favourite toy and through watching his doggy foster brother. He loves the water and travels well in the car, so would be stoked to find a family where he will be invited along on river or beach adventures.
When left outside, this boy is happy to chill, but may give regular low guarding gruffs at neighbouring dogs and birds to keep them on their side of the fence.
Squire has been well fed by his previous owners and is now on a diet to slim down. We would recommend that his new owners help him drop at least 3-5kg to help him deal better with the heat and to live his best life.
This lovely, handsome boy is simply lovely and we are so keen to find him a loving home where he will be much cherished. If he sounds like a good match for your home we'd love to hear from you.

ADOPTION NOTES
Our adoption process for the successful applicant includes a meet and greet, (including your own dog if applicable), a home check (or photos of your yard and fencing to be supplied to us if not local), and a two week trial period to ensure your chosen dog is the right fit for your home.
All adoption fees must be deposited into our SAFE Bunbury bank account in full before adoption trial starts (we cannot accept cash). The Adoption Agreement will be emailed to the selected applicant in advance of meeting your chosen dog.
After the adoption trial period has been completed we arrange transfer of ownership of the dog's microchip to the new owner, and email out the vet records.
