Bakkum is a super cute girl, who absolutely adores kids and big humans, loves to play with other dogs (big and small, and anything in between) seems safe with small pets and in general loves life!

She is outgoing and curious, and would be happy to go places and discover new things with her person. She also loves to lie down while you work, and will just find a quiet place like a bed or her crate, which is her safe place.

She currently sleeps outside, with our other dogs and enjoys that, but would prefer a spot inside, pretty please. On the couch, thank you very much.

She can be independent and explore on her own but not too far away from you.

She has shown concern for the dogs and the people around her in the sense that she will place herself between her friend and the scary thing ( like when I want to brush the other dogs), or warn us when one of the dogs accidentally gets locked in, by sitting in front of us. She is not pushy, doesn’t demand attention, just asks quietly.

She does pick up on emotions, and will try to comfort you when she thinks you may be unsettled. In that respect she is just the sweetest, cuddly little lady but will also happily wait until you have time for her.

Sometimes she will bark but if you then show her what ’the danger’ is, she is very thankful and will trust that you know what you are doing. You are her human, after all! She is very easy to correct, and doesn’t need strong reprimands, just a teaching of what is right or wrong. Treats work extremely well :-)

She still jumps a bit when excited, to greet you, but understands this is not what we like so is getting better by the day. Around small kids this would need a bit of training.

She loves to look at our chickens, but she understands we don’t want her to go in the pen, so will sit at the entrance (even though they are such funny squeaky running things…) looking a bit sad but also ‘look at me, I am so good!’.

Bakkum loves to please you, and would the very best dog ever for someone who is looking for a faithful friend.
