Meet Yoko Newhaven – The Ultimate Cuddle Companion!
If you've ever dreamed of having a big, affectionate snuggle buddy, meet Yoko – the playful, loving, and utterly devoted American Bulldog, who turned 3 in September.
This gorgeous girl doesn't just enjoy cuddles – she lives for them. Yoko will happily nestle into you, climb onto your lap (or try her best to fit), and soak up as much affection as possible. She's the kind of dog who greets you with a wagging tail and hopeful eyes, ready for her next belly rub or snuggle session.
What Makes Yoko Special?
✅ Big on love: Yoko is a true lap dog at heart, always looking for affection.
✅ Well-mannered: She's easy to guide and respects boundaries (even if she sometimes tries to sneak onto the couch).
✅ House-trained: No accidents here – she knows the drill.
✅ Adventurous spirit: She's just starting to come out of her shell and enjoy off-leash playdates.
The Ideal Home for Yoko
Yoko would thrive in a home where she can continue building confidence and getting all the love she craves. A loving home that understands Yoko's reactivity and anxiety. She needs a family who will enjoy her goofy, affectionate personality and help her feel secure in new situations. Yoko likes being an only dog and being spoilt for attention.
Other Dogs? Yoko is reactive and will freeze when she sees another dog. We are actively working with Yoko on her reactivity and we are seeing improvement.
Cats? Not tested yet.
Kids? Likely fine with older children who respect her space.
Training? She knows basic commands and responds well to guidance, but she's still working on leash manners (she's strong but settles into a loose lead at times).
Car Rides & Adventures
Yoko is still getting used to car travel and can be a bit anxious, but with patience, she'll learn that car rides lead to fun new experiences!
A Few Fun Quirks
She adores her teddy bear and carries it around like a prized possession.
She will test the waters to see if she can sneak onto the bed or couch when no one's looking.
She loves being as close as possible – if you're looking for personal space, Yoko may have other plans!
If you're searching for a loyal, affectionate, and playful companion who will shower you with love and keep your lap warm, Yoko is your girl. Could you be the perfect home for this big-hearted beauty?

a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
