Meet the wee little fluffy smiling boy M.C Nugget.
If you are seeking a loveable, sweet, affectionate little fluff ball who will greet you with tiny paws reaching up on your leg and bounding with joy…. Nugget is the boy for you.
This little boy has a definite peace of my heart and will only be adopted to a home that are willing to take the time to understand him and love him as much as I have grown too
M.C Nugget or “ Nuggy” as his friends call him is a 5 kilo Pomeranian x Im pretty sure Chihuahua needs a VERY special home so please be sure to read the profile very carefully before you apply.
Nuggy is a beautiful little guy who once he has formed his bond of trust with you is the most loving happy and affectionate little guy. When Nuggy arrived into rescue he had serious trust issues of “ touch” and if anyone tried to have any physical contact with him Nuggys response would be to lash out and bite.
Nugget thrives on positivity and good energy and to gain his trust a person that does not “ force themselves onto him while he gets to know them . Trying to force touch will lead to breaking his trust and him reacting to that person. Now to be really clear here we are not talking about just a nip , we are saying Bite !
So Nuggy came home with me ( rescue trainer) to find out his trigger points and to build the trust of humans. Nuggy came a long way in the many weeks that he was with me prior to going out to foster care and we built a strong and trusting relationship . We formed a loving and trusting bond that allowed me to be able to do absolutely anything with him including pet him all over . pick him up, brush him and give him cuddles and kisses with absolutely no issues at all. Not at any point did Nuggy ever try to bite me in the time he was here !
Nuggy just needed to feel trust and love and most importantly have been allowed time and patience to allow him to decompress. By the time we sent him out to his foster carer Nuggy was the happiest little fella who loved the company of other dogs LOVED going on his daily walk and most of all loves to play tug-o-war with his toys with me.
So Nuggy has now been out with a foster family so we could monitor his adaptation to a family life. Nuggy has adapted well but what we have learnt is that he has really only gained trust and bonds with one person in the family and seems to not have much interaction with the others. This has affirmed my thought that Nuggy is best suited to a single or couple home only and based on his uncertainty of new people he should definitely not have contact with children.
After visiting Nuggy while he is in a foster family home he absolutely remembers me and was so excited to see me covering me with kisses and affection while choosing to avoid the other rescue team member who was with me had with me.
Based on my months of working with Nuggy and learning his best home fit the following profile has been written and adoption criteria set.
Nuggys favorite things include cuddling Tug-O -War with his favourite toys and definitely going for a walk. He is a fun life loving little guy who will greets his hooman full of excitement and love to see you.
Nuggy is a huge fan of treats and will just about do anything for something tasty so this has been a huge win for us while we had been building his confidence .
Nuggy gets VERY excited to go on car trips as he has become used to the car meaning something fun so he does need to be secured in or he will definitely want to sit on your knee …..
Nuggy gets on great with other dogs and has been exposed to many but is also perfectly fine as an only dog.
Nuggy is primarily an outdoor dog and sleeps outside in a kennel which is very important to his new home to understand this is for a reason . As we found when Nuggy was allowed inside the home at all times he was nervous and frightened and would attach himself to the furniture and not move so when we have him mostly in the yard he is a lot happier and definitely thrives. He does have access to the laundry for hot days or bad weather but we feel for this point in his rehabilitation he should remain in this routine.
Nuggy will self entertain while you are at work and loves playing with his toys by himself or having a snooze. He has never destroyed anything including his bed .
As we have stated Nuggy loves a walk and does initially pull on lead but at 5 kilos is like having a packet of bread on the end so easily controlled
We haven't tested Nuggy with cats but based on his feelings towards possums in the trees …. Gonna say probably not lol
Ideal Home
Nuggy is a fun loving very wet and loving little boy who with a very experienced owner of a couple will thrive. He is NOT for a family who are not prepared to listen to our guidance while he settles into his new home as we know this boy very well and if you are prepared to follow our guidance he will be an amazing little fluffy companion. PLease do not apply if you have no intentions on allowing our intimate knowledge of him to help his transition or if you are not experienced with dogs as it simply won't work and Nuggy is too precious to have him end up in the wrong hands.
Adoption Criteria
Nuggy need a home with a yard that is secure and has shade and shelter from the elements . Please be mindful of just a kennel as shade is not sufficient for Melbourne summer .
A home that will allow Nuggy to decompress correctly and not try and force him to allow touch until he has reassured himself that the can trust you
A home that will take Nugget on a walk as he loves this so much
A home that has another dog is ok but he is fine as an only dog
No cats please
A home without children as Nugget as we stated can fear bite if pushed to touch when he is not ready
