About Ernie
Ernie is a sensitive boy who will need a calm and understanding home. When settling in, he should begin in a small launch room and be given time to adjust before exploring the rest of the house, as large open spaces can feel overwhelming for him.
Providing plenty of resources will help Ernie feel secure. Scratch posts, cat trees, and hiding places such as cardboard boxes or cat igloos will allow him to climb, rest, and retreat when he needs quiet time.
Ernie can sometimes become over-stimulated with too much petting. It is important to watch for signs that he has had enough. When these signals appear, it is best to end the patting session and move on to another activity such as play or enrichment feeding.
Structured play therapy twice daily is recommended to help give Ernie an appropriate outlet for his energy and frustration. Feeding from enrichment toys can also help reduce stress and provide mental stimulation.
Ernie would be best suited to a home with teenagers who can understand basic cat body language and know when to give him space.
