About Coco - 4 Year Old Tenterfield Terrier (trial)
Coco is a 4 year old Tenterfield Terrier and weighs in at 4.4kg. He is typical of his breed being highly intelligent, strong, active, hardy and agile, who loves vigorous exercise and family affection.
He came to us with an extreme lack of trust and confidence, however over the last few months his trust has been restored and has become an adorable companion.
Coco shares our house with a 4 year old bigger gentle female dog and the occasional visit of an older Border Collie. We feel he would benefit from living with another dog to provide him with comfort and guidance. He is always up for play time tossing and chasing his toys around and enjoys instigating the rough and tumble wrestling with our dog. He often snuggles up to our dog for comfort and loves to join us on the lounge at night as well.
He is an indoor dog and is house trained if he has access to outside. He loves his daily long walks and travels well in the car and is equally happy on the backseat hammock with the other dogs or in the front on your lap. We take him for runs on the beach on a long lead to give him the freedom to run with the bigger dogs which he loves.
He is a work in progress learning to sit on command but will come when called.
Coco is a wash and wear dog that needs little upkeep other than keeping the toenails trimmed, the teeth cleaned and the occasional brushing to remove loose hair.
If you enjoy a good shot at outdoor exercise each day and would love a devoted companion, this may be the dog for you. He is a small athletic rocket that loves nothing more than running, chasing balls and playing with his toys and helping out in whatever activity we are doing. He is good on the lead and happy to meet other dogs that approach.
He has not been tested with cats and would probably find young children too stressful, but could definitely tolerate visits from younger children occasionally.
He is going to need patience and understanding whilst settling in to his new home, therefore experience with rescue dogs would be beneficial but not essential. He will need time in his new surroundings in a quiet, calm space to decompress and observe his new environment.
Coco is in Foster Care at Valentine NSW. His adoption fee is $600, and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
