Meet the beautiful floofa Livestock Guardian breed pup “ Akiva
At 14 kilos our stocky divine little girl is developing perfectly and of course for her breed will be a large girl at full growth
Our simply stunning girl is such a well rounded and very confident girl showing all the amazing breed traits this breed has to offer for the right home.
Akiva loves a cuddle and will happily laze around enjoying affection and bonding time
Akiva is a Sarplaninac which I'm pretty sure judging by her thicker coat has a bit of Maremma in her genes. She has been living on a rural property with exposure to all things farm including sheep . horses, chooks, cats and of course other dogs.
Akiva has incredible potential as all breed traits are strong and could be easily trained for livestock work or as a around the property as a protection dog with the right handler
Her ability to take everything in her stride is fabulous and has been nothing short of a brilliant pup to train as she just wants to please a be a part of the farming way of life
She has been mentored by a large male Sarplaninac who has ensured she minds her manners around stock when out in the sheep yards during training and has listened very well.
Akiva has completed all confidence building requests from me with a confident and can do attitude including all sorts of surface walking , tunnel entrances . grate and bridge walking and walking through all styles of terrains. She has developed an incredible lead walking calmness and skill and will follow me in any situation including storms and high winds. Ive actual;ly even had her training in playgrounds and she will confidently climb up and down equipment and slide down the slides lol whic is a really good sign this little girl can achieve anything
She adores other dogs and will engage with all with much confidence and a friendly wag . but of course based on her age she thinks EVERYONE should play with her even if they are unwilling so this has caused a few dog older corrections in which she has listened to their requests very well.
Of course at her age she is right in the “ baby shark faze” of teething and can get exciting with her mouthing when very stimulated but an experienced handler can easily manage this as she does listen well
Akiva is on a premium puppy food diet including her start to the introduction of raw feeding in which she loves
She travels VERY well in the car although does drool a little but I do see her growing out of this with more exposure.
Akiva is a Livestock Guardian breed so therefore is NOT suited to suburban living and we are seeking a min of a property of farm for her new home. PLease do NOT bother applying if you do not meet her adoption criteria as you unfortunately will not be successful in her adoption .
Adoption Criteria
A home with experience in handling large dogs of guardian breeds ( No exceptions)
A property or farm with secure fencing , shelter and shade , you must have secure dong fencing as this is a deal breaker
A home with another dog would be great but we will be seeking a male who is desexed and good with young dogs
Children in the home would be fine but we are only seeking home that have mature dog savvy kids that are familiar with larger breeds
Obviously with her thick coat she will require regular grooming to maintain her coat especially during the seasonal changes
