About Cosmo Newhaven
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:

Cosmo is a busy boy who is looking for the people who will help him grow into his paws. Active and energetic, Cosmo appreciates regular opportunities to exercise both his body and his brain. This clever cutie is housetrained and has some basic training but would love to learn more. A good canine doorbell, Cosmo is friendly with people of all sizes once he gets to know them, preferring slower introductions before sharing his affections. Cosmo enjoys daily walks and regular time at the dog park, sniffing on his own and sometimes playing with other dogs. He is okay on lead but could benefit from some further loose-lead training to polish up his skills and form a bond with his new handler(s). When meeting other dogs out and about, Cosmo will usually pass without incident but will sometimes mirror the behaviours of other reactive dogs. He is okay flying solo at home for a few hours when his people are out, currently enjoying indoor-outdoor access. He has been known to engage in some creative landscaping when bored on his own, though, so needs something to occupy him during these times.
Cosmo will do well in an adults-only home or family with older children who can give him space and respect his need for Cosmo-time. This smart cookie will thrive in a situation where he has good routines and is given regular opportunities to stretch both his legs and his mind through rewards-based training, enrichment games and other activities. This will help him build his skills and confidence so he can take on all life has to offer. Cosmo may be okay left for short periods while his people are at work or play, provided he has appropriate shelter and entertainment, as well as quality human time when his people are home. Cosmo will probably do best as a solo dog, although he might live well with a well-matched dog of similar size and independence. He would prefer a cat-free family.
Cosmo is new into our care and we will update his profile as we get to know him better. If you are interested in making Cosmo part of your universe, though, please do submit an adoption application.
Cosmo's home will be cat free.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
Cosmo is a cavoodle and weighs 8kg.
Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.
