About Kolten
Introducing Kolten!
Kolten is a Staffy x born approx 23rd March 2024.
Kolten was brought into the facility as an unmicrochipped stray and to our surprise no one came looking for him.
Since being at the facility Kolten has been the cuddliest kid on the block. When he gets excited he does like to jump up for a cuddle, but he settles fairly quickly. For this reason we're recommending a home with slightly older children so he doesn't accidentally knock them over.
Kolten is very clean in his kennel and immediately goes to the toilet once he's on the grass, so it appears he is house trained. He also loves belly rubs and will be a lap dog if you let him.
Kolten tested quite well with other friendly dogs. The only reaction we saw from Kolten was when another dog acted aggressively towards him and he reacted back in defence. We believe Kolten would be suitable to live with another dog, or be a spoilt "only child". If you have a friendly dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Kolten tested well with cats. When our resident cat tried to bite him he backed away. We feel that he could be suitable to live with cats, if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
Kolten seems unfazed by pocket pets.
He still has so much to learn about the world and would love to be in a home where he is included as a member of the family. Kolten will thrive in an environment that guides him with positive direction and lots of love and attention.
Kolten has shown mild signs of separation anxiety while at the facility, however he mainly only reacts when he can see you but not get to you. He seems to settle when he's left completely alone.
Kolten has shown no food aggression since being at the facility.
Kolten's adoption fee is $475 and includes his desexing & lifetime registration. Kolten is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
