About Woody
Woody is a calm gentle boy. He will have bursts of energy during his zoomies or play with toys but much of day is spent relaxing on his bed.
Woody has made the transition into fostercare remarkably well. He arrived looking very shabby with some of the worst kennel coat we have ever seen. He has now emerged as a very sleek and shiny black beauty with just a few distinguished silver touches around his chin and eyebrows.
Our boy has also mastered pet life in the city, happy to explore busy streets with trams, cyclists and honking horns. He likes city streets because they are full of all is favourite things - people ! Woody likes to meet as many new humans as he can on his walks. He can be a little unsubtle about it though. He is known to goose a stranger in front of him to get their attention. It’s hard to ignore a friendly hound when they’ve just boinked their snout up your backside.
Woodly likes a shorter walk in the morning and a longer adventure in the afternoon. He enjoys going to different places. His favourite places are where there is water. He will do his best to jump into shallow water if allowed. He can’t swim but he loves to play in water.
Woody is also a good passenger, loving the car and the train.
Woody was a little wary of meeting new dogs in the first week of foster care. Dogs that didn’t look or behave like him were so strange. Now he is much more comfortable with new dogs, seeking out medium or large dogs to hang out with and preferring to ignore those little ones.
In the apartment, Woody is very relaxed and comfortable napping while his foster dad is working from home. He can sleep through most things. You may find he falls into a couch coma even while you are brushing him. Woody is also happy to be at home alone for a few hours while dad runs some errands or goes out for dinner. He has access to a balcony for toilet.
When you get home you may discover the pillows on the human bed have been slightly rearranged as he sometimes has a sneaky nap there when you are out. At night he sleeps on his own bed in the living room and occasionally on his bed in the bedroom.
Woody can do stairs like a pro and has learnt what is his food and that the human will not share their food no matter how politely your enquire.
Woody is also a good communicator. He has a very expressive face. Woody knows a cheeky grin will get the attention of strangers, a side-eye is a sign that he wants more of something and a nose boop on your leg means….he really wants more.
Woody is a relaxed and confident boy who will easily adapt to most homes.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, some can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour.
As a result we look to rehome dogs into households where they are not left on their own for more than 4 hours per day on a regular basis, without either people or another dog for company. We are happy discuss strategies such as a dog walker or doggy day care. Going to work with you is also a great option
