About Sammy
Meet Sammy
Sammy is a friendly, smoochy, cuddly tan short-haired dachshund after he gets to know you. Prior to entering DCH care, Sammy lived with a breeder and her family. He was dearly loved as a member of her family. He was surrendered into DCH care due to a change in family circumstance.
Sammy is loyal and protective once he is familiar with you (it doesn't take long). He will initially bark (never growls or bites). But once he knows you are friendly, he will approach you for pats, cuddles and tummy tickles. He will bark at unfamiliar animals but once he is exposed to them for a short time and he knows them to be friendly, he is friendly or indifferent in kind (depending on the reaction of the other animal).
He loves walks, playing in the water and will fetch the ball if you throw it for him. He likes wet and dry dog food, and will sleep hard when he is tired. He is independent and likes to explore new surroundings. He wants nothing more than to hang out with his hooman family. Outside of unfamiliar hoomans or animals, Sammy is very quiet. He is up-to-date with his vaccinations, desexed and healthy. He is crate-trained, and respects furniture, clothes and shoes. He is toilet-trained, and will go outside to do his business if you have a doggy-door or teh door is open. He would be compatible with all types of households - single, couple, young family, older family - he is so low-maintenance!
If you are looking for a dog who is friendly, smoochy and low-maintenance, then Sammy would love to meet you.

Our animals are rescued from various pounds and shelters and placed in Foster Care until a permanent home can be found. Our volunteer Foster Carers are located throughout Sydney, Australia and are only too happy to assist you.
DCH Animal Adoptions relies solely on our adoption fees and the generous support of the community to continue our rescue work. Many times, we are faced with large veterinary bills due to the illness and injury that comes along with looking after pound rescues.
