Meet Choc Honeycomb, a pup with fortune cookies for ears and a muzzle to rival a baby hippopotamus! He has got the cuteness formula all figured out with his doe eyes and soft, wrinkly forehead.
Personality-wise, he follows instructions attentively and obeys boundaries, being eager to please you and seek assurance. His current foster carer can attest that he is impeccably toilet trained. He is able to sit and lay down on command. Choc Honeycomb learns quickly and is very responsive to positive reinforcement training techniques.
Whilst Shar Peis are renowned for being aloof with strangers and other dogs, Choc Honeycomb bucks the trend - he is simply a kid in a dog’s body. He is outgoing towards all dogs, big or small, and curious about sniffing out all of those human passerbys on walks. He LOVES having a good tussle with any dog who will respond to his play bows or getting the zoomies whilst throwing around his favourite plush toys.
As a Shar Pei, however, Choc Honeycomb’s guarding instincts means that he is happiest when he is close to his special people and knows that you are safe. He has a good tolerance towards dogs that bark at him first and generally reserves his barks for sounding the alarm for potential threats. If he spots a worry on the horizon or if you happen to sneeze loudly enough, Choc Honeycomb will come over to confirm that you are okay via his trademark nose boop.
Choc Honeycomb would benefit from having a regular play companion or being in a household with another medium/large sized dog. However, he could also thrive as an only dog with sufficient stimulation in the right environment (e.g., affection from humans, enrichment food puzzles, toys, sniff walks, backyard space for outside zoomies, etc.). While he is still young, he will need to be taken out in the big wide world and to puppy school.
He suffers from some mild car sickness which will resolve itself with time and lots of fun car trips, although he has been fine on public transport.
Overall, Choc Honeycomb is a sweet boy whose caring nature, playful antics and motorbike-like snores will bring little moments of joy to your everyday life. He is waiting for his special people to find him.
