About Ellie - 6 Month Old Great Dane X Ridgeback
Meet Ellie – Your Gentle Giant in the Making!
At just 6 months old, Ellie is already a big girl, weighing in at 25kg!—but don’t let her size fool you. She is a timid, gentle soul who wants nothing more than to be right by your side (or better yet, in your lap!). Given her shy nature, she may take a little while to warm up to new people, and her foster family have found that she likes to go and hide away when guests come over. But once you earn this sweet girls trust, be prepared for whole new world of affection! No one has ever told Ellie she is too big to be a lap dog, and we certainly hope no one ever will. Get ready for lots of full-body cuddles and affectionate lean-ins. This girl is all about the cuddly life!
Ellie is toilet trained, though she may have the occasional accident during storms, as she is quite fearful of thunder. Her basic training is coming along well—her lead walking improves every day, and she sits for her dinner like a pro (though waiting patiently is still a work in progress!). Despite her sweet and snuggly nature, Ellie is not suitable for homes with young children. She sometimes forgets her size and, when excitement takes over, her thrilling three-times-daily zoomies could easily bowl someone over!
Ellie is looking for a loving home that will continue her training, offer her a place on their lap, and provide plenty of cuddles. If you have the patience, and couch space for this gentle giant, she’ll return the favor with endless love and loyalty.
Ellie will grow up to be a large dog. You will need at least 5ft solid fencing, with no gaps (rural and mesh fencing will not be accepted). Due to her age, Ellie will need someone home more often than not. She would love to live with people who welcome her inside, and she will need to sleep inside at least until fully grown. Ellie will be a wonderful family dog for those with children above 6 years old, but will need a family committed to teaching her excellent manners (including not jumping). We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life.
Ellie’s adoption fee is $700 which includes her desexing when she is old enough. It also includes her first two vaccinations. She has been treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped.
Ellie is in foster care in Stroud, NSW. She has been recently desexed, and as such will not be available to go to her new home for 2 weeks post-desex date while she heals. However, after this period Ellie will be available for both local and interstate adoptions.
