About Wally
Wally is the most friendly and sociable hound you'll meet. He is the life of the party and loves getting attention from everyone he meets, always with a big grin. Wally is the perfect pub dog, at least that's what all his new human friends always say in the beer garden! He walks well on lead and likes two walks a day, usually about half an hour each, where he can stop to smell the roses. And the trees. And other dogs’ butts. Speaking of other dogs, Wally is a joy around dogs of all sizes, always friendly and usually calm.
He's not just a handsome face, though, he’s pretty smart as well! He is food motivated, which has made it easy to teach him to sit. If you have food in your hand, you can probably get Wally to do anything, if you really try. So far, Wally has mastered the stairs and makes trying new things look like a breeze, including public transport, noisy inner city streets, and jumping up into the car (although sometimes he needs a little run-up to hop in). Wally loves riding in the car and going on adventures with you. He is the best sidekick you could ask for.
At home, Wally loves company, and his collection of toys. He’ll wander into whatever room you’re in for a snuggle, seeking gossip and a scratch behind the ears, or will just lie down on the floor next to you while you work from home. Wally doesn’t like being home alone for a long working day so would be happiest with a canine companion to keep him company (and to swap beds with), or with humans who are home most of the time.

Medical notes
Wally is on a medication to help with his anxiety when left home alone. We anticipate that he can be weened of this when settled into his forever home.
Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, some can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour.
As a result we look to rehome dogs into households where they are not left on their own for more than 4 hours per day on a regular basis, without either people or another dog for company. We are happy discuss strategies such as a dog walker or doggy day care. Going to work with you is also a great option

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
