About Sam
Sam the man is a lovely, sweet old gentleman. Although he may be 13 years old, he can chase the ball for hours and has soccer skills that could rival Beckham or Rinaldo! Sam is also happy trotting around and being a shadow to his human buddy and would make an incredible companion for anyone looking for a best friend.
Sam isn't a huge fan of having a bath so he may hold on tight in the hopes it will miraculously teleport him away to someplace dry. The only times you may hear Sam bark is if you are taking too long to throw his ball or if the younger pups are getting a little too carried away with their shenanigans. Since having all his teeth removed, he is left with a delightfully gummy smile that matches his calm personality.
During his time with his foster family, Sam has been living with two shih tzus (aged 14 and 3), was regularly visited by a lively 4 year old chihuahua and 10 year old child and was nothing but beautifully mannered with all of them.
Overall, Sam is very well behaved, housetrained, sleeps through the night in his own crate and is a happy little man to be around.
Medical notes
Medical notes for Sam
13-year-old Sam is desexed and microchipped. He is also up-to-date with vaccinations as well as flea, tick, intestinal worm and heartworm prevention.
Sam had a dental procedure when he first arrived in care and had all of his teeth removed due to severe dental disease. He has since healed perfectly and it does not affect his eating.
Sam has a grade 3 heart murmur and is on Vetmedin twice daily. He has had an echocardiogram and we would recommend he have an echo every 12 months, as well as regular vet check ups to keep a close eye on his heart health.
Despite his senior age and heart murmur, Sam is a happy and healthy dog who is still very active.
