About Bear - 4 Year Old Labrador
Bear is a 4 y/o female Labrador. This gorgeous girl might just be the perfect member for your pack!
Intelligent and boisterous, this girl has lots of love to give, and just wants to be part of a loving family. Are you her forever family she deserves?
She loves humans and has great companionship qualities. Whether you want to cuddle her or have her sit at your feet while you watch a movie, or work from home, Bear is a premium pooch.
Playtime. It doesn't matter if it's fetch, tug-o-war, play wrestling, or simple water play, Bear is up for it!
Although she loves to be around her humans, she is content when you leave the house, and has shown no signs of separation anxiety.
Despite not having much love shown her way in her previous life (no walks, training, or attention, coupled with overfeeding), Bear has a beautifully enthusiastic nature.
She’s shown great resilience and forgiveness to have such passion for life. The world is exciting and intriguing for the curious Bear.
As a result of her neglect, she is overweight and will need to drop the excess weight to ensure she is healthy, comfortable, and doesn’t experience problematic health complications later in life.
This means her forever family should be disciplined and responsible to ensure she commits to a healthy and correctly proportioned diet with regular exercise (1x minimum walk per day).
Having a backyard to roam around in-between walks would be a great way for her to stretch her legs and shed the extra kgs. That being said, she is very happy to lounge around inside, and has been known to snore now and again during her naps.
She is not dog aggressive, but has had minimal exposure to other dogs, so is naturally curious and excited by other dogs.
When encountering other dogs while walking she can pull on the lead and bark out of excitement. While non-threatening, it is best to train this out of dogs, and Bear only does this because she doesn’t know any better. On the first attempt, Bear was able to learn the correct owner-focussed behaviour when we came across another dog on a walk. With consistency in this area, it won’t be an issue.
She is gradually learning about personal space and manners when in contact with other dogs and will eventually be less annoying to other dogs with continued exposure (excessive sniffing, crowding, burrowing underneath to get to something on the other side). Again, this is a direct result of lack of exposure to other dogs. She would be best as an only dog, or in a family with calm/patient dogs. Additionally, Bear has not been tested with cats or other animals.
Bear is friendly towards children, however is excitable and rambunctious, so best suited to kids over 5 years old.
Her adoption fee is $600 and she is in care in Wallsend, NSW. She is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
