About Ranger
Adoption Profile: Meet Ranger!
Breed: Maremma x Dogue de Bordeaux
Date of Birth: 09/12/2021
About Ranger:
Ranger is a strikingly handsome 3-year-old Maremma x Dogue de Bordeaux with a heart as big as his stature. This gentle giant combines the best of both breeds, showcasing loyalty, intelligence, and a calm demeanor. He’s looking for a forever home where he can thrive as a devoted companion and guardian.
Personality:
Ranger is a confident and affectionate boy who enjoys spending time with his humans. While he’s protective by nature (true to his breeds), he’s also a sweetheart who loves belly rubs and relaxing in the sun. His independent streak makes him a great fit for someone who understands guardian breeds and their needs.
Ideal Home:
Ranger would do best in a home with:
Plenty of space, such as a large backyard or rural property. Ranger does need strict supervision around livestock as he has not had previous experience with livestock and wants to play with them (no aggression, just play).
A family experienced with large or guardian breeds.
Children of all ages okay but with supervision especially around young children, as he may be too big and boisterous for them.
Secure high fencing (not farm fencing) to ensure he has a safe environment to roam and patrol.
Training & Socialization:
Ranger has a solid foundation in basic obedience and responds well to consistent training. His intelligent and eager-to-please nature makes him a quick learner. Socialization with other dogs has been positive, but slow introductions are key. Ranger has proved to be good with both male and female dogs smaller than his and well socialised. Ranger would not fit with a large, male dog.
Exercise Needs:
Ranger enjoys regular walks, exploring the outdoors, and having a job to do, even if it’s just keeping an eye on the property. His energy levels are moderate, so he’s happy with a balance of activity and relaxation.
Health:
Ranger is up to date on his vaccinations, desexed, and microchipped. He’s in excellent health and ready to start his next chapter with a loving family.
