About Smokey STA013393
Meet Smokey, an adorable young senior lady who is as enchanting as they come. This sweet and affectionate feline may start off shy and timid when meeting new people or adapting to new environments, but with a little patience and a gentle pat, she will melt into a loving lady eager for attention.
Smokey is simply delightful, radiating warmth and affection once she's comfortable. It's impossible not to adore her gentle snuggles and purrs once she gets to know you. She relishes a peaceful atmosphere where she can fully enjoy the comfort of quiet moments with her human friends.
Smokey would thrive in a quiet, calm environment without children or canine companions, where she can be the center of attention. Though she came to us missing her front right foot, this endearing characteristic doesn't hinder her zest for life but reminds us of her resilience. However, due to this, Smokey is looking for an indoor-only home.
If you are looking for a delightful senior cat to share peaceful afternoons and cozy evenings with, Smokey is the affectionate companion you’ve been searching for. She's ready to fill your life with love and her gentle purrs.
Medical notes
When Smokey arrived at CPS she was missing her right fore foot. We do not know if this is congenital or secondary to an injury. Usually in this case we would amputate the leg to prevent ulceration of the stump, however it would seem likely it has been this way for some time, with no pain or ulceration, and Smokey uses the leg (to move things, pat for attention and sometimes when moving around) and so we don't believe it is in her best interest to amputate the leg.
Should the stump become ulcerated within 6 months of adoption, we will amputate her right fore leg at CPS at no cost to the owner.
Smokey MUST be an indoor cat (ideally with access to a cat run/enclosure)
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
