About Cruize
💙 Cruize 💙
HOUSEHOLD- Meet confident Cruize! An excitable boy who is looking for a dog experienced home to help him be the best him he can be. He will require 6ft secure fencing due to his amazingly springy legs. He would love to be included in family activities both indoors and out but it is unclear if he has lived indoors previously so a quick toilet training revision may be necessary. Due to his strength and excitability he will be unsuitable for elderly family members or smaller children and would best suit kids 12yrs and above.
ON-GOING TRAINING- Cruize can already sit, partially stay and respond to his name. He is currently working on his recall and needs more time spent on basic obedience and polite doggie manners. While he likes his food treats he does not enjoying being lured into positions and will be best trained using capturing or free-shaping methods so that he does not become disinterested or frustrated.
PLAY/TOYS- Cruize greatly enjoys toys. He likes tug toys and soft plush toys, always ready to instigate tug o war and wrestling with his handlers. You do still need to be careful of your fingers due to his excited nature needs to improve mouthing manners
OTHER DOGS- Cruize is a dog that wants to interact with every dog he meets. He is a little enthusiastic in his initial greeting but means no harm by it and continues on to try to initiate play if the other dog is willing.
He may suit living with another canine companion but they will definitely need a meet and greet to make sure they get along well. While he has shown himself to be dog social at the facility we unfortunately cannot test for group dog settings such as a visit to the dog parks, beaches etc. If you were hoping to visit these places we would recommend postponing your trip till around 3mths post adoption until he has had time to settle in properly, feel comfortable with his recall commands and strengthen his bond with his new family.
CATS/OTHER ANIMALS- Due to Cruizes’ excitable nature he may be best to be rehomed without feline friends. We will be testing him further to see if he can settle in their presence and allow us to make a more informed decision.
CARE/NUTRITION- Cruize has a lovely short coat that will be easy to maintain with weekly brushing and a bath only when required. He appears to have slightly dry skin and may require a more sensitive shampoo or bathing routine. Monthly nail clipping and handling will also need to be performed regularly to help decrease his excitement during all care routines. He has shown no fussiness or food sensitivities whilst in our care and is being fed two meals daily of an adult food formula.
EXERCISE/ON LEAD- Cruize has energy to burn and will require an owner who feels the same way. He will require 1-2 walks/runs daily and a game or two in the backyard to help keep him physically and mentally healthy. In the shelter he is frustrated and can pull quite strong on lead as he settles into his walk. He is yet to be taught proper lead manners and will require some time and patience from his new family to show him how to walk properly.
BREED - Staffy Mix DOB 1/7/21
