About Heff - 6 Year Old Staffy X
Are you looking for an affectionate boofy boy?🐾 Meet Heff
After living in horrible conditions tied up in the yard all day, Heff made his way to a safe home where he has responded really well to the love he’s been given. Does he like snuggling up with you on the lounge – that’s a big YES. Playing around with goofy puppy-like joy – again a big YES. Sneaking onto your bed and asking for a tummy rub – YES, absolutely.
Although Heff currently lives with another dog (a dominant female ) who he happily shares his dinner bowl with, lets her play with his toys, and plays chasings with - we think it’s a unique dynamic and that his new home should be free of any other dogs, cats or pockets pets.
Heff enjoys going for a walk, and is pretty good on lead. If he gets too close to another dog, he may pull but otherwise he’s quite chilled and walks with a relaxed lead. If you enjoy bush walking, then Heff would love to accompany you!
Heff has been wonderful with the kids in his foster home, having learnt to be patient and gentle - though due to his size, you’ll need to manage any interactions with little children, as he may knock them over. So probably a home where there are no children (or regular visitors) under 6 years old would be best.
This big softie loves human company, so he’d suit a home where someone is around part-time – perhaps someone who works from home a few days a week. As he settles in and feels secure, he’ll likely be able to manage longer periods on his own. Heff is a quick and eager learner: he’s already mastered sit, stay, lie down, catch food midair, and even go to his bed on command.
Heff does love a dig, and has dug himself a bit of a den in the backyard, where he can relax and keep cool on hot days. He has a strong guarding instinct which triggers him to bark at neighborhood activity. This is something that training should be able to control.
If Heff was cat friendly, the foster carer would love to adopt him! But sadly, despite their efforts, he and the cat do not get along.
Heff’s ideal home is:
- A home with kids over 6 years old
- No other dogs
- No cats or pocket pets as he has a high prey drive
- Strong fencing that he can’t push through
- A family who will welcome a large gentle boy inside the house
- A family committed to ongoing training
- An active family who can give him daily exercise
If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a loving, goofy, and loyal best friend, Heff is ready to meet you. 💙🐶
His adoption fee is $300 and he is currently in care in Tenambit NSW. He is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
