About Cashew
Cashew has come a long way from being a scared, shut-down pup. With confidence-building from a behavior trainer, behavioral medication, and a loving foster home, he's now a playful, affectionate companion ready for a patient and understanding adopter.
Cashew loves stealing socks, zooming in the backyard, snuggling on the couch, and playing with chewable or rip-apart toys. He enjoys walks and chasing games and needs daily exercise to manage his energy.
He can be very timid and scared around new people, requiring time and patience to feel comfortable. Once he trusts you, Cashew bonds deeply, showing affection on his terms. He prefers pats and chin scratches to being picked up or hugged and often nudges your hand or places his head in your lap for more attention. He tends to trust males more readily and initiates contact by sniffing.
Cashew can get excited around other dogs but might thrive with a well-matched, confident canine companion. He's learning commands like "sit" and "give paw" but still needs help focusing. Cashew would love a home that understands his quirks and celebrates his sweet, playful nature. Could that be you? Reach out to meet him!
This dog is currently on a veterinarian-prescribed medication to help manage their anxiety and support their progress in building confidence. The medication has been an important tool in helping them feel more comfortable in their environment and continue their behavioral growth. Their adopters will receive guidance on how to continue this plan, with the support of their veterinarian.
