About Dallas
Dallas, D-Boy, Dally. This gorgeous young 7 month old Kelpie x Staffy is looking for his forever home.
His foster carer wants you to know what a great dog he is so this is from her -
This puppy surprises me every day with what an intelligent and loving boy he is.
In the ~2 months I've known him, he has absolutely blossomed.
From being a terrified and nervous boy, who wouldn't walk or move, he has come out of his shell so much, and absolutely amazed me!
He is always happy to see me, cheeky, happy, inquisitive and loving.
He's such a talker, and has different sounds for different situations.
I left the dog-biscuit container lid up the other day, and heard him in the other room, squeaking and whining. I called out to him (because he also squeaks when he's 'lost' me in the house) but he didn't come. Went into the other room to find him absolutely delighted, and helping himself (so cute -the biscuits weren't full to the top, so he wasn't getting too many).
He barks when he's excited, and runs around like a mad-thing when I'm preparing dinner for him and my girls (learning bad habits from mine, who are crazy-party-animals).
As with most puppies, he sometimes struggles with knowing his bite strength. He's a bit of a 'mouthy player', not helped by my youngest, who is also mouthy.
He does not understand personal space. Loves to be touched at all times, and is an 'every-single-toilet-trip-companion'.
He is still quite a nervous boy, but we are going slowly, because I don't want to stress him after his tough start.
I am now able to pat him (and walk past him) while he is eating, and he takes treats from my hand.
He is learning to trust, and starting to realise that he doesn't have to be scared.
He is using his crate and loves it, choosing to lie in there when the door is open and I am at home, not just when he's secured in there for me to go to work.
Even though he gets scared and nervous, he is the most tolerant and passive boy. The vets commended his behavior last week. They told me that even though he was very scared, he let them do all the things they needed, and showed no signs of anger or fear aggression.
Dallas is going to need someone patient, who is willing to take their time with introducing him to new things, and walking on a leash, as he does still get very scared. He is fine wearing his collar, but pulls against the leash to try and get back inside the house.
