embryonic eye which means that nuclear cataracts are a sign of maldevelopment during gestation. They may or may not be heritable, however generally they should be considered as accidents of development rather than truly genetic. Therefore they are often present at birth and are sometimes associated with other congenital ocular
anomalies such as microphthalmos. They are often not progressive and usually remain in the nucleus without extending into the cortex.
ABOUT
Marius – gosh where does one start to describe this amazing boy.
Marius is a 10 month old Ragdoll – he’s a largish boy and has the most gorgeous soft silky coat.
Marius loves everyone:
Humans – Yep pats please
Cats – yep, lets play
Dogs – oh, lets wrestle
Kids – he hasn’t met kids yet, but he would be an amazing companion for children.
When people describe a “floppy” ragdoll, you are pretty much describing Marius – he is so calm and chill – happy to be picked up and carried around, loves to snuggle, loves to play, loves to sleep. He’s the all round perfect cat.
As his medical note details, Marius was born with some issues with his eye – he has very mild microphthalmos which basically means his eyes are small than “normal”. He also has as a nuclear cataract in each eye, and the surgeon doesn’t believe that these will get any worse than they are now. He can see OK on the most part, but if something is moving too quickly he will struggle to see and/or catch it (if you are waving a wand toy in front of his face, he will struggle to keep up with the movement if it moves too fast).
Marius would make an amazing addition to any home! If you’d like to meet him please follow the link -
