About Mumble
Meet Mumble: The Little Tripod with a Big Heart (and a bit of a past)
This scruffy little terrier, weighing in at a mighty 8kg, wasn’t always the confident, cuddly chap you see before you. In fact, our Mumble started his journey here feeling a bit like a grumpy porcupine!
Let's just say, he wasn’t exactly winning any popularity contests at the rural pound. He had a bit of a 'snappy' reputation – the kind that gets you labeled "aggressive" and puts you at the top of the "seriously at risk" list.
He even needed a pole to get on the transport, which, let’s be honest, is never a good sign for a first date, but we at The Village (stubborn optimists that we are), thought there might be more to this scruffy little terrier than met the eye (or the pole).
It turned out our instincts were pretty spot on, Mumble wasn't angry, he was in agony. A trip to the vet revealed he had a badly broken leg that had healed at a wonky 45-degree angle… and had been like that for at least a year. The only kind thing was to amputate, so he's now living life on three legs.
With the pain gone, the real Mumble emerged. Turns out, he’s not the vicious beast everyone thought he was. He's now a cheeky, bold, and wonderfully feisty little fella who absolutely adores his humans.
He attaches quickly to his caregiver, and while he's happy to chill outside for a bit, he'll be sitting at the sliding door, patiently (and maybe a little dramatically!) waiting to come back in.
Here are a few Mumble-specific details to help you picture your future together:
• Homebody Sweetheart: Mumble is happiest indoors with his human, though he's happy enough in the garden while keeping a close eye on the sliding door waiting to get back in. He's becoming more secure and less clingy, happily chilling in another room while you do your thing.
• Sleepy Head: He sleeps like a log all night and loves to sleep in. He’s a champion cuddler but is just as happy to sleep on the floor.
• Athletic Wonder: Don't let three legs fool you, this boy can jump on and off a bed like a pro!
• Potty Trained Superstar: No accidents here.
• Toy Fanatic: His favourite things? His teddy, his tug-of-war toy, and a big, yummy dog chew.
• Foodie but not fussy: Mumble enjoys a mix of chicken, rice, veggie loaf, chicken necks, and kibble (though he thinks the cat's kibble is particularly delicious).
• Good Listener (mostly): He comes when he’s called – sometimes immediately, sometimes with a little gentle encouragement.
• Walkies Ready: He's a happy walker on a collar and lead.
• Social Butterfly: He wants to be everyone's friend, even greeting horses with a waggy tail and his attempts to "chase" ducks are more like a playful jig.
• Cat-Friendly (with patience): He’s not aggressive with cats, more curious. He would need some guidance, but a confident feline friend could maybe on the cards.
• All-around Good Boy: He loves pats and brushing, is happy to be picked up and gives good cuddles.
• (Wo)Man- Friendly: Friendly and trusting with the humans of either persuasion.
• Minor Quirks: He still has occasional fear responses to hand pressure near him. But he isn't an aggressive, dangerous dog. He just needs someone with emotional intelligence and awareness, who will be kind, patient and loving with him.
• Collar Cautious: Mumble is wary with the lead being clipped on. (He is fine once it is on) and collar. He will need ongoing desensitizing with pats and scratches before clipping the lead on, something his new human should be aware of.
Mumble is located in foster care at Kobble Creek (North Brisbane), and his adoption fee is $725. He's desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, and up to date with flea and tick treatments.
If you think you have the perfect home for this lovable tripod, send us a detailed message telling us all about yourself and the wonderful life he could share with you.
Get ready for a lifetime of love, laughter, and a little bit of scruffy-terrier charm.
