About Penny
At seven and a half years old, pretty Penny is still plenty spritely, challenging her label as a "senior" lady she wants you to know there's still plenty of pep in her step, and lives for her walks, taking nearly an hour in the morning and a more leisurely half an hour stroll in the evening (with a comfort break in the afternoon, as she currently lives a cosmopolitan apartment lifestyle!). While she is sweet and very social when out on her walks, enjoying her self appointed title of neighbourhood greeter - her approach with other dogs needs a little polish and she can come on a bit strong so she is learning to be less intense in her delivery, and importantly, not stomp on small friends in her excitement.
Penny definitely knows how to enjoy the quiet peace of alone time, and will often take herself off to nap in another room - but she does like to get up and check on you from time to time through the day, sometimes following you around politely, sometimes requesting a little smooch, occasionally keeping an eye on that pesky front door the people keep leaving through! She can handle a few hours home alone and naps the time away, but in the first minute or two of you leaving she will be a bit unsettled so we recommend that her new home ease her into absences slowly, with time and patience she will grow her confidence with goodbyes.
As befits a lady of her age, Penny can be a bit particular (or perhaps, discerning) about her rest, she doesn't like to be disturbed and will give you a growl to let you know if she's been rudely awakened - for this reason a home without small children would be best. She would also need potential canine siblings to be respectful of her space when sleeping to avoid any conflicts arising.
Taking to foster care with enthusiasm, Penny thinks there is so much joy to be had in this pet life, and loves her squeaky toys, games of fetch, and peanut butter! She is a good eater, and after every meal will go to her carer for a quick cuddle as though to say "all done, thank you!"
When thinking of her ideal forever home, Penny doesn't much mind whether it is an apartment or a house, so long as her people are around more often than not, and there's plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy the great outdoors together. She is a bundle of energy and happiness when it comes to her favourite time of the day, walkies! And she can't wait to share that with her forever home.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, some can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour.
As a result we look to rehome dogs into households where they are not left on their own for more than 4 hours per day on a regular basis, without either people or another dog for company. We are happy discuss strategies such as a dog walker or doggy day care. Going to work with you is also a great option
