Meet Hades,
About: Hades might share a name with the god of the underworld, but our Hades is far too sweet to live up to that reputation. We'd love to give her a new name, but since she already knows it, we wouldn’t want to confuse her!
Hades is a lovely older girl with a heart as warm as her gentle demeanour. She’s a laid-back lady who adores the quieter side of life, making her a perfect choice for first-time pet owners or those seeking a calm and easy-going friend.
While she treasures her lazy days filled with snoozing and relaxing, Hades is always ready to join you for a leisurely stroll, a beach outing, or even an adventurous camping trip. She’s the best of both worlds: a mellow doggo at home and a fun buddy for low-key adventures.
Hades is incredibly friendly, social, and smart. She’s known for her affectionate and playful personality, often engaging with those around her in the sweetest ways. She’s excitable at times, adding a bit of spark to your day, but her overall vibe is one of happiness and contentment. If you're looking for a gentle and loving doggo who’s as happy snuggling on the couch as she is exploring the world with you, Hades is the girl for you!
Ideal Home: Hades is best suited to live in a townhouse, standalone home or farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.
Ideally, Hades would spend more time indoors than outdoors. However, she’s perfectly comfortable being outside on her own without any problems.
Family: Hades is open to meet kids of any age - Hades is super sweet &loving but can get the zoomies. So, kids should be mindful of this as they could potentially get knocked over.
Hades is fine to live with people who work full-time hours.
Furry Friends: Hades is open to meet dogs but needs to shape up her manners first. She likes to use her paws to 'bat' the other dog, although she does this playfully, other dogs mightn't enjoy it as much as she does. During her assessment, Hades had a loose body and big tail wags throughout the assessment. She was excitedly pulling towards the other dog and was eager to exchange sniffs & play bows.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Hades would go living with cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Hades would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes would also be a great idea so that Hades can learn how to play with other dogs & extend on the dog social skills that she already has. With additional training, Hades could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café or social event.
As mentioned before, Hades knows her name & also knows commands such as: sit, shake, down & crawl. Hades is food motivated, and she chooses to always take treats from you gently, too.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Hades has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from walking, play, or exercise from 20-60mins per day to keep her happy & in tip -top shape. Hades enjoys playing with toys, she prefers to play with soft toys but also loves to engage in personal play/cuddles with her handlers.
Hades walks well on a lead with minimal pulling. She is fine to be walked with a harness or on a collar/lead.
Staff Comments: Hades is a great all round dog. She loves to play, she is trainable, affectionate and she spends most of her day lounging around. She is very sweet and just wants love. She would enjoy enrichment toys/food puzzles when left alone.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
