About Stevie
Stevie, male Dachshund cross approximately 12 months old.
Stevie is blind. Don't be deceived into thinking that affects his happy love of life attitude.
This dog is amazing! After his stressful start that resulted in him coming to us, he settled almost immediately.
He is a happy, social, affectionate dog. An absolute joy to be with. He navigates his surroundings without trouble once he is familiar with them. He loves the outdoors and going for walks with lots of sniffing on the way. He has excellent hearing and follows your voice on walks when distracted by an interesting smell.
Stevie is super friendly with all the different dogs he has met. Big, small, male, female, he doesn't care what they are, he wants to be friends with them all.
Living with a blind dog is not difficult once a few common sense considerations are made. Make sure the yard is secure. Let the dog navigate their new surroundings in their own time on their own. Always speak to the dog when approaching so as not to startle them. Don't constantly change furniture or 'obstacles' in their environment.
One last considerstion. Never leave access to a pool or pond that the dog cannot easily stand well above the water line and exit easily.
Come and meet Stevie so he can shower you with love. He has lots to give.
