About Zion
Meet Zion, a handsome and highly intelligent male German Shepherd puppy born on 5 November 2024.
Of sturdy build and striking good looks, Zion is a working line GSD, who will thrive as an integral member of an experienced GSD-loving family.
Zion's foster mum affectionately describes him as “a rambunctious, curious, engaged, alert, affectionate and highly trainable youngster with a knack for getting into mischief, just like most puppies”.
Friendly and curious are two words that sum up Zion's sociability with other animals. He is fascinated by the resident dogs in his foster home, but needs to learn that it’s not good manners to jump on your friends. He’s been more respectful in his dealings with the resident cat.
He’s been introduced to cattle, chooks and Guinea fowl while on leash and is non-reactive. However, if the poultry run, we know he’d love to give chase.
As for humans, he delights in the company of his foster family and people he knows. Innately wary of strangers, he will quickly assess the situation and once sure there’s no risk, he’ll warm up, wag his tail and extend the paw of friendship.
Although he's still learning to mind his manners and observe boundaries in some situations, like not climbing on tabletops, his basic obedience skills are commendable. Zion knows the commands “come,” “sit,” “off,” “drop” and “look”. His recall is coming along nicely. He’s house-trained, walks well on a leash, and settles comfortably in his crate for a good night's sleep.
Zion thrives on positive interactions with his humans, locking eyes with them to communicate trust and that “blue-tooth” connection. As observant as he is engaging, Zion has been exposed to various sounds and sights, from tractors to birds, so he’s on the way to being a well-socialised puppy.
This impressive youngster is a beautiful blend of playful spirit and emerging wisdom. With ongoing guidance and love from strong and confident human teachers, he will become an exceptional companion or family dog.
His ideal home will have excellent fencing, space to romp and play and dedicated and GSD experienced humans who are around most of the time. Zion is definitely not suited to a solitary life in the backyard.
Zion is not desexed but is offered for adoption under the terms of our Deferred Desexing Program, which means his adoption fee covers the cost of desexing when age appropriate. Terms and conditions apply.
