About Marty
Our beautiful Marty is still looking for the right furever home.
Marty was a cruelty case and seized by the police. He came from a very traumatic background and was skin and bones when we came to us, he is now happy and healthy, but requires an experienced person as he doesn't know how to regulate his behavior with other dogs
Marty requires a home with someone that has experience with dogs with behavioural/reactive issues that will continue his training and support him become the best dog he can be!
Despite the hardships he has faced, his enthusiasm and pure joy for life are truly remarkable. Marty came to us as a cruelty case, he was chained to a tree and left to starve. He has been lucky to have some wonderful foster carers who have nursed him back to health, taught him to trust again, invested in him learning how to be a dog and basic commands. He is now at that stage where he would benefit from finding his furever home.
Marty needs an active home that will enjoy taking him out on fast paced walks or runs daily to expend his energy. His current foster carer takes him to slatmill runs 3 times a week and she has noticed a big improvement in his behaviour. Marty also enjoys mental stimulation to keep his mind active so snuffle mats, lickimat and puzzles are a good way to keep him entertained.
As Marty is learning to ‘dog’ he doesn’t quite know what to do when he sees other 4 legged-friends He has calmed his reactions down to seeing other dogs and on command will sit but does not bark. He is excited to meet other dogs and is a bit like the child in the playground that wants to go and say hi to every other kid and play with them but just doesn’t know how. His current foster carer believes someone who has the knowledge and confidence to start introducing him to other dogs would help Marty make the transition to being a proper doggo!
Marty is proving to be a great student during his training – he can leave treats and meals until told he can have them. He is learning wait, drop and stay and is also being muzzle trained which is going well.
Marty continues to learn his manners with humans, he is excited by everything 2 and 4 legged and is learning that jumping up onto humans to say hi and welcome them is not polite. He is learning to settle quickly and heads to his bed to relax after the initial excitement.
One of Marty’s favourite things to do is go for a spin in the car and particularly loves seeing horses on a drive! One of his least favourite things though is the postman…
Once Marty trusts you, he will absolutely adore you and provide endless snuggles and love.
Adopting Marty means welcoming a loyal furry companion who will bring endless happiness and love into your life. Despite his difficult past, Marty's resilience shines through, and he is eager to create new memories and experiences with a loving forever family.
