About Zeus - 1.5 Year Old Wolfhound X
For those of you who have been lucky enough to have experienced the love of a Wolfhound, you will know that they have the biggest hearts. And Zeus truly has one of the biggest. Once this boy gives his heart to you, he will love you with every inch of himself, and he will love you forever.
About Zeus;
- Zeus is an 18 month old Wolfhound X. He is a large breed, and still has a lot of growing to do. His new owners will need to be aware that he will likely physically mature between 40- 50kgs. This also means that he is a very strong boy, and being a sight hound, they can have a strong prey drive.
- Initially, Zeus can be a timid and shy boy. His limited life experience has made Zeus a little worried of the big world, especially when it comes to meeting new people. But once he relaxes and feels safe, he is incredibly affectionate, loving and cuddly.
- Zeus LOVES being physically close to his people, so if you aren’t up for a large Wolfhound sitting on your lap, or ‘spooning’ you on the couch, or just being so close that nothing can come between you, this boy may not be for you.
- Once Zeus is relaxed, he is a genuinely happy, playful, goofy boy and an utter joy to have around.
- Zeus is highly intelligent and a fast learner. He can be also be very sensitive and his new owner will need to take this into consideration with their training approach so as not to detrimentally impact on his confidence.
- Zeus loves going for walks and adventures. Whilst he is still building his confidence, Zeus is becoming more brave every day and learning to take new experiences in his stride
- Zeus loves playing with a ‘tug-o-war’ rope, with chew toys, and doing zoomies around the yard.
- Zeus is dog selective. OK with non- dominant dogs, but slow introductions are essential.
His perfect family;
- His perfect family will need to be home more often that not. Zeus is showing some signs of separation anxiety, so he is definitely not a dog that can be left alone for hours on end.
- His new family would preferably have a medium sized, non- dominant dog for him to play with. This would be ideal for Zeus but not essential. ( a couple of ‘meet and greets’ with this potential doggy brother or sister would be essential)
- Will need to be patient with him and take their time introducing him to new people and new experiences. Zeus had very limited life experience before coming into care, so whilst he has come a long way, continuing to build his confidence slowly will be super important for him
-Will need to commit to on -going training . Zeus is super smart and a quick learner, and he already knows the basics.
- Will have a large, safe and secure yard, with 6ft fencing.
Zeus is house trained. He has previously lived with cats though has not been tested with cats since in care. Zeus would best be suited to a family with older (12 yrs plus) kids, who can give him space when needed. His play style can also be quite boisterous, so he could easily and accidently knock small children over. We are also recommending a ‘slow adoption’ for Zeus (ie several meet and greets prior to adoption) to ensure a smooth and stressless process for Zeus.
Zeus is in foster care in Tanilba Bay, NSW. He is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for fleas and worms. His adoption fee is $400.
