About Pesto
They don’t come much cuter than Pesto! This pup has a gorgeous little face and a cute stumpy tail. But it is his personality that you are really going to fall in love with. He is a really sweet little pup who is friendly with everyone that he meets. His little stumpy tail is very cute when he gets the wriggle butt going. You can’t help but give him some pats and a cuddle. Pesto is a playful pup who enjoys playing with his toys and exploring the yard. His foster carer has really enjoyed having him around the home and his puppy clumsiness is hard not to giggle at!
While in foster care, Pesto has met a range of dogs and has shown he is friendly with all of them. He has been living with a large breed dog who he gets along well with. Pesto loves to play chasing with his friend and when it is not play time, he also likes to lie near him. Being a pup, he will need regular socialisation with doggy friends in his new home. Ideally his new owner will have a network of friends with dogs whom he can have regular playdates with or go on pack walks with. Pesto currently weighs just 13kg and is expected to stay at a medium size. He will need daily exercise and mental stimulation throughout his life to keep him healthy and happy throughout his life.
Pesto came into care from a rural pound in far western NSW so a lot of things in Sydney are new to him. He has been growing in confidence everyday and has an inquisitive nature. Unexpected loud noises can startle him, but he recovers quickly, and he enjoys sniffing around new environments. His new owners should be willing to continue to gently expose him to new environments and experiences and continue with his basic training so that he can become an excellent adult canine citizen.
Pesto is a smart little boy who is food motivated and eager to learn. He has learnt to sit and is improving his lead walking everyday as he becomes more confident. At home, Pesto is progressing well with his toilet training, but this will need to be reinforced in his new home. He is crate trained and sleeps there throughout the night without a peep. It would be ideal for Pesto to attend some basic obedience lessons or group classes to continue to blossom and have the opportunity to show everyone what a good boy he is. He travels very well in the car and is keen to get out and explore new places by your side. Pesto would make a great companion for going on hikes, camping or for beach days.
We are looking for a dog experienced home for Pesto where he will be a loved member of the family and included in the daily activities. He can live in a home with another friendly adult dog that can enjoy some playtime with him and who is already full trained and ready to be a great role model for him. Pesto could also live as an only dog but would need his people around more often than not for companionship, particularly during the settling in period where he would need to gradually practice being alone for short periods. He should be allowed inside the home to be with the family and will need a warm comfy bed inside to sleep on at night.
This boy is suitable to a range of households. Pesto is currently in foster care with a cat. He barks at the cat from a distance (it is a bit of a cranky cat!) but ignores it when close up. We are not entirely sure how he would go if a cat were to run so best to only be rehomed with a cat who is very used to dogs and owners willing to continue with showing him how to behave appropriately around felines. Pesto has met some children (>6yo) and we believe he would be suitable to live with dog savvy children, preferably those old enough to have some involvement in his training as he is still a young boy. There is no reason why Pesto can’t live with other types of pets with appropriate training and guidance.
Pesto is a really lovely young dog who will make a wonderful addition to his new family. If you would like to make this beautiful boy a part of your life, then please complete a Dog Adoption Enquiry form on the Fetching Dogs website as the first step. Please include plenty of details about your previous dog experience, current household members and the type of lifestyle Pesto would have with you.

This puppy will be adopted out under a desexing contract that will require the dog to be desexed by a given age. The cost of desexing will be included as part of the adoption fee. A $250 desexing bond will be payable in addition to the adoption fee and will be refunded upon proof of desexing. This process is further discussed with successful applicants.
Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
