Blumfeld is a lovely young dog, quiet and calm, friendly to everyone and everything. He is the perfect housemate, well behaved and happy to chill out at your feet most of the day. He plays nicely with the other dogs in foster care and even tries to play with my long suffering cat. He should be supervised at meal times if there are other dogs in the house as he is quite timid and will let them steal his food. He will take a treat very politely from your hand.

He has not been tested with children but given his general demeanour, he should be fine with school age kids, given his size. He is not bouncy at all. He might even be fully house trained, he reliably uses the puppy training pads overnight as I don’t have a doggy door.

He can be a bit vocal when he wants something (like a treat or a favourite toy that another dog has snaffled from under his nose) but otherwise he is a total gentleman. He does not live up to the Smithfield reputation as a dog that barks a lot. In conformation he is very like a kelpie, a slim elegant looking dog with a penchant for lying quite regally with his paws crossed in front of him, his favourite position. He is slightly taller than a kelpie and weighs about 20kgs with a slightly rough coat, not shaggy at all.

Outside, Blumfeld walks nicely on a lead, he does not really pull at all. He does like to stop and sniff a lot. And he is a great passenger in the car (he does not bark at all) and can be relied on to happily get in and out of the car without any coercion.
