About Jayla
Introducing the beautiful 6 year old Boxer x Jayla. She has a brindle coat and soulful eyes that look into your soul.
Jayla came into care the week before Christmas. She was booked in with the owners’ vet to be put to sleep. Their life had changed and nobody could take her. Sharpei rescue scrambled and put up a post begging for a carer to save her life. Luckily for Jayla, someone put their hand up and the next part her life’s journey began.
The first step was to get all her vet work up to date. She needed a vaccination, desexing and the removal of a fractured canine. With all this work competed, she is now ready for adoption.
Jayla is a little under 40kgs but she is gentle and loving. She loves people and only too ready to give kisses. When she is happy to see you, she does the whole body wag. She has a long whip like tail that sounds like a drum when she hits the floor or wall with it. Her demeanour makes you smile when you see her.
Jayla has loved being in her foster home and enjoyed laying on her dog bed in the lounge room and being part of the family. She sleeps all night without a peep.
Jayla is happy to be left at home with the other dogs while her carer goes to work. She rarely barks, but when she does, she has a big voice. She will let you know if someone is around who should not be there.
During the recent storms and fireworks, she seemed unfazed by these. She appears not to be an anxious dog at all. She does like to follow you around in the house and yard while you do jobs.
Within a few minutes of arriving into care, she worked out how to use the doggy door. She is fully toilet trained and is very gentle taking treats from your hand. Her face lights up at mealtimes as she loves her food!
Jayla does get on well with other dogs but we were told she is not good with little fluffy dogs as one attacked her when she was younger. She is currently living with a Jack Russell Terrier without problems but this may be a case of ‘little dog breed’ selective.
Her owner said she has a high prey drive and will kill snakes and rats. So we think cats would be a no go for her. The same would apply with pockets pets.
Jayla would suit a family with older children mainly because of her size and that big tail wags. She travels well in the car so you would be able to take her out with you. But she is just as happy to stay at home with you as well!
Jayla will be a loyal and loving companion and deserves the perfect home for the rest of her life.
If you think Jayla is your girl, then please put in an application.
