About Bea
Hi! I’m Bea and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR BEA
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/9rGxWRCPj9ivKAuP9
NOTE: You are unable to meet Bea until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Bea in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A doggie playmate who is gentle and calm may be okay as boisterous dogs scare me so I will require lots of socialisation with positive experiences with other dogs. I’m still learning how to interact and play with other dogs.
• I like both friendly male and female dogs
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• A family who promise to keep me well groomed and brush me regularly so I’m always looking and feeling my best
• Lots of love and attention
• No young children as when I'm excited I get very bouncy and mouthy, older children who will be involved with my training should be ok.
• I can be shy at first so I need a family who’ll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time
• I have lots of energy so an active family is a must
• Doggy daycare and group socialisation classes would be highly beneficial for me.
• I have never interacted with another dog before coming into the shelter so I can be unsure of how to behave around and with them! I will require a lot of positive socialisation with other dogs so that my behaviour improves and not deteriorates towards them.
• I appeared scared of cats when meeting them at the shelter however once my confidence around them grows I might be more inquisitive. If going to a home with a cat they must be dog savvy and we must be introduced slowly.
• Large breed experience is a MUST
• TRAINING TRAINING TRAINING. It’s super important we start from scratch with my training, I have zero life experience.
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Small children due to being mouthy & bouncy
My best features:
• Very playful
• Wiggle butt
• Highly food motivated
• Gentle & placid
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
• I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
• Well mannered
• Love to snooze on the couch
• Exuberant & full of beans
• I love toys especially my ball, playing fetch and tug rope
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
• I can be a bit bouncy -training should stop this
• I’m quite timid in new situations such as entering a building/home. I MUST have a family who'll allow me inside so I can see it isn't a scary place and to allow my confidence to grow.
• I've only just learnt to walk on the lead since being at the shelter so I'm still a bit erratic but lots of walks will help me learn how to be great on the lead.
• As I have not been allowed inside before I am not housetrained yet
ANY EXISTING DOGS AT HOME MUST COME TO THE SHELTER TO MEET BEA BEFORE AN ADOPTION CAN BE APPROVED
