About Hazel
Please note, Hazel has had a bad skin allergy, which is currently under control, but prone to flare ups. She will only be rehomed to a family that is willing and able to continue her skin care routine, and understand that flare ups may happen.
Hazels new home will need
- To continue with her skin care and monthly injections.
- To be allowed inside when her humans are home and to sleep inside of a night.
- Her people home often.
- A variety of toys and vists to water.
- To be included in family activities outside of the home.
- To go on regular walks and on outdoor adventures.
- NEEDS to be an only dog living in the home.
- A home with minimal carpet.
Hazel loves relaxing in a soft bed close by her people. When she’s not relaxing, she enjoys playing with balls, a soccer ball brings out her energetic, side small bouncing balls she has a blast with them! Hazel loves to chew a bone and will play by herself if she has toys around. She loves a swim in the water on a hot day and has a blast adventuring through nature trails.
Hazel likes to be close and very involved with her people she lives with, always with one eye on her caretaker. She prefers to watch over and know where her caretaker is at all times. She’s loves pats and cuddles!!
When Hazel meets new people she looks for confirmation from her caretaker to get pats and engage. She is friendly but not overly involved with others… for example on a walk she will stop and receive pats from kids, be happy to say “hi” and then carry on.
She has been at big social events with lots of people and has staying calm and collected, often napping even with new people and other dogs around.
She will play and receive pat from children who are respective of small dogs, she hasn’t had a negative reaction towards a human before.
She loves the car, napping the whole ride. Hazel has been on a week-long road trip with no issues in the car.
Hazel walks well on the lead, going for sniffs and toilet breaks off the path but always returning promptly.
She is obedient but can be stubborn and will need continue positive reinforcement. Hazel understands basic commands but hasn’t been taught tricks.
Hazel is entirely toilet trained, she’s never had an accident with the foster carer. Knows to wait for a walk or to be let outside for the toilet. She does well with routine in feeding and walking.
Hazel has a crate which is left open, during the day she chooses to sleep in her crate or in one of her beds.
At night she sleeps in her caretakers room but in her own bed on the ground. She will happily sleep the whole night through cozied up on her bed.
Hazel has been exposed to many other dogs (dog parks, social engagements, staying with other dogs)
In passing and on short term she does well with other dogs, she is not overly interested in engaging with them, she will play for a few minutes but prefers her own space. While staying with other dogs she has shown territorial behaviour around her food so will be looking for a home as an only dog.
