About Cadbury - 20 Month Old Kelpie
Meet sweet Cadbury. Now if Cadbury were a real block of chocolate (and not a gorgeous 20 month old Kelpie), he would have to be ‘Fruit and Nut’…..he really is equal parts fruity sweet, and definitely a little bit nutty.
About Cadbury;
- Cadbury is a happy, playful, cheeky Kelpie that loves to make you laugh at his funny antics
- He is still building his confidence in the big world and learning to trust new people and new experiences
- He is independent and likes to have his own space to retreat to, especially if he gets nervous or worried (this might mean a little hidey hole in the garden where he can just relax on his own)
- Once he relaxes with his people, he loves pats, scratchs and belly rubs - Loves playing with chew toys, and loves a game of chase in the yard
- He will literally make you smile and laugh every day with his quirky ways and serious sense of humour
His perfect family;
- His perfect family will need to be super patient him. This boy will take a while to trust and fully relax in new surroundings. He is definitely not a dog that you can put pressure on, so patience is of utmost importance for this boy.
- have a large safe and secure yard for him to play in (he is not a jumper or a climber but may get spooked so he would like a big yard where he can retreat to his own space if needed)
- Another medium sized, high energy dog for him to play with (preferably working breed type who likes that herding/bitey face style of play). This is essential for Cadbury as it will help provide stimulation for him and help build his confidence. (A couple of meet and greets with his new doggy brother or sister will be essential)
Cadbury definitely has some ‘typical’ Kelpie traits.….he is high energy with loads of stamina, has a strong herding instinct, and loves to be on the move, but Cadbury he is also different to a typical kelpie…which is most likely due to his upbringing. Cadbury is ‘free spirited’, independent, a thinker, and likes to do things at his own pace. This means that his new owner will need to read him and train him accordingly.
He is house trained. He will require on-going obedience training but as Cadbury is super smart, he will learn quickly. Cadbury has been around chickens and horses and has shown little to no interest. He has not been tested on cats. Cadbury does get stressed going on car rides, so this is something that is his new owner will need to be aware of.
Cadbury would best be suited to a family with older (12 yrs plus) kids, who can give him space when needed.
Cadbury is in foster care on the Central Coast. Cadbury is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for fleas and worms. His adoption fee is $500.
