Meet Luna,
About: Luna is a beautiful soul who is both gentle and affectionate. She is best suited to an experienced owner who can appreciate her personality and provide her with the love and care she deserves. Luna would thrive in calm and quiet households, where she can feel at ease.
When Luna first arrived, she was a bit anxious and timid, but with patience and love, she has blossomed into a happy and excitable girl. She is independent yet social, enjoying the company of her handlers while also appreciating her alone time. Luna is incredibly agreeable and friendly, making her a great dog to be around. One of Luna's favourite pastimes is rolling over on her back for tummy pats and being brushed. She adores affection and will happily snuggle up to you for some quality bonding time. Her gentle nature and sweet disposition make her the perfect choice for those who appreciate a chilled-out dog with a heart full of love.
Ideal Home: Luna is best suited to live in a townhouse, standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large sized yard & high, secure fencing.
Luna would love to spend time inside the home with her new family but is also comfortable spending extended periods in the yard, by herself, when no one is home.
Family: Luna is open to meet kids of any age & is suitable to live with people who work full-time hours.
Furry Friends: Luna is best to be the only dog in the home. Although she came in with her sister Frida, her dog assessment indicated to us that she prefers to be the only dog in the home. Seeing another dog elicits a stress response in Luna. So being the only dog in the home is best for her.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Luna would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Luna would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience.
Luna knows her name, and also knows commands like 'sit' & 'down' and she is also toilet trained. Luna is food motivated, but can be fussy with some treats but she will always take them from you gently. Luna may sometimes jump on you but she usually only does this when she is playing with you.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Luna has low to mid-range energy needs & would benefit from walking, play or exercise, from 20-30mins per day to keep her happy. Luna isn't really interested in toys, she prefers spending quality time with her handlers.
Luna walks well on a lead with minimal pulling & she is fine to be walked on any walking apparatus you choose.
Staff Comments: Luna is super affectionate. she loves to roll over for pats & cuddles. She likes to play when you initiate it. She is a pretty chill dog, despite being a husky. She can be vocal at times, but not often. Luna is toilet trained & needs a loving and patient family who can help her build confidence as she transitions into her new home as she may revert back to timidity. A calm and quiet home environment is ideal. Lots of affection and cuddles is a must!

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
